Stealth Fender Coronado (De Armond Pickup)
I was asked if there was any way to make this 60's Fender Coronado not sound so Anemic. I made a Jazzmaster style pickup with magnetic poll pieces that fit in the original pickup casing. Unfortunately I lost my pictures of the construction and the finished product. So this is a pictorial only of the autopsy of the original dead pickup. The determination of the Anemic sound was that the De Armond Pickup's magnet (if you can call it that) was a very lame magnet with almost no pull. The end result was a guitar with much more punch and a fuller sound, and much more character that could still be heard through the rest of the band.
